Vintage Zephyr at Pontchartrain Beach design for America's "Ride of Tomorrow" from a special preview opening on Sunday, April 23, 1939. Pontchartrain Beach was an amusement park on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans that included a wooden roller coaster called the Zephyr along with many other rides and amusements. The Zephyr and Pontchartrain Beach closed for good after the 1983 season due to declining attendance. While the Zephyr and Pontchartrain Beach are no more, visitors to the city will still hear the Zephyr and Pontchartrain Beach fondly spoken of by locals as one of those things that, sadly, “Ain't dere no more.” Today, you can enjoy wearing the earliest Zephyr at Pontchartrain Beach design from 1939 on your shirt!
We've done our best to pay homage - the art is Hand Created from original art from 1939 and the design is Hand Printed in the South on the front of a Women's Combed Ringspun Cotton-Polyester Jersey Turquoise semi-relaxed feminine fitted t-shirt with our NOPSI logo t printed on the back. Simply the softest tee that feels like a well loved favorite. Wear with pride and celebrate your New Orleans history!
