Algiers Public Service was incorporated in 1922, the Company operated both the Canal Street ferry and the Third District ferry through a franchise agreement with the city of New Orleans. The ferries carried passengers and automobiles across the Mississippi River between the foot of Canal Street on the New Orleans or East bank of the river and the foot of Morgan Street on the Algiers or West bank of the river.
